What is a conventional smoke detector, & how do conventional smoke detectors work?
A conventional smoke detector is the type of detector that detects the smoke that is responsible for causing fire-related disasters. These are some of the most important parts of fire alarm systems. These could be installed anywhere to stay alert in case of an emergency. Conventional smoke detectors work by detecting the existence of smoke in the air and activating the alarm to alert people around them. Additionally, there are two types of detectors, and they work differently according to their types:
i. Ionization Smoke Detector: Ionization smoke detector basically contains of two parts a part where alarm lies and another part where sensor lies to sense the smoke. The part where sensor is present, there ionization radiation flows around continuously due to the help of electrical current. And when smoke enters it blockage the movement of current which results in the disturbance of flow of smoke inside the detector. This directly triggers the alarm to aware people.
ii. Photoelectric Smoke Detector: Photoelectric smoke detector consists of light source with sensor and alarm. The part where light consists, the light and sensor are positioned in an angle where the LED light leads directly to the sensor. If the smoke enters inside the detector, it will not let the light to reach the sensor which immediately activates the alarm.
What is a Conventional Heat Detector? How Conventional Heat Detectors work?
Conventional heat detector is the detector that helps to detects the immediate increase in heat around the environment caused by fire. This type of detector is used where smoke detectors have the high chance of triggering false alarm because of various factors like dust particles, increased steam and many more. Heat detectors are suitable to use at various areas like Warehouses, factories, garages and other areas where smoke alarm is less effective. This type of detector consists of three types and they are: -
i. Fixed temperature heat detector: Fixed temperature heat detector works when the heat increases more than that of determined level. This type of detector should be installed before measuring the maximum heat of existing environment.
ii. Rate-of-rise heat detector: Rate-of-rise heat detector works when the heat suddenly rises and activates the alarm.
How to Connect Conventional smoke & Heat Detectors with a Fire Alarm control panel?
A Conventional Smoke Detector & Heat Detector can be detected by a pair of multi strainded cable up to 1000 meters form the Main Fire Alarm Control Panel.
